About Me.
I’m Thomas Lang, a student at the University of Alberta pursuing a BSc in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on biomedical applications. In the long term, I’d like to work in either aerospace engineering or prosthetics. My interest in the aerospace industry stated because of a lecture from Dr. Robert Thirsk about future missions to the Moon and Mars, the aero space industry's future is very exciting and I would love to be part of it. I’m also drawn to the prosthetics field because I find the mechanics behind human body motion and potential innovations for practical nerve detector devices to be inspiring. I would love to see a widespread use of prosthetics that can be controlled through nerve impulses by the wearer in the near future.

I have hands-on experience in landscape development, primarily working on construction sites. The site where I gained the most experience was the Station Lands project near Ebcore Tower, managed by Ledcor. There, I was involved in grading soil beds, assisting with the craning of large bags of soil, and planting shrubs.

Outside of the classroom and work, I’m passionate about physical activity. In my limited free time, I make sure to hit the gym, and during longer breaks enjoy hiking. My favorite place in Alberta is Nordegg, and this summer I visited Siffleur Falls. During winter reading week, I love to go skiing at Lake Louise.
